Prep Time 20 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings 1 jar

  • 300 grams blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds (any type)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Bring the blackberries to the boil in a medium-sized saucepan, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for around 5 minutes until the blackberries are soft. Use a masher to mash the blackberries a little bit, but keep some intact for texture.

  2. Add the chia seeds and maple syrup, and continue to simmer on a very low heat for another 5 minutes, stirring regularly to make sure it doesn't stick.

  3. After you remove the jam from the heat, gently stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. Once the jam has cooled, pour into a sterilised glass jar and seal with an airtight lid. The jam will keep for 10-14 days in the fridge.
