What’s the Worst That Can Happen?

Hi there. I’m Sarah and I’m here to tell you about my Ditch The Diet journey so far. I’ve just completed Transform21 (one of the Ditch the Diet online courses) and I’m really pleased to say that, after my three weeks, I have lost 5.2 pounds and a total of nine and a half inches, which I think is amazing. Before I joined Ditch The Diet, I felt fat, frumpy, generally just uncomfortable in my clothes, unhappy with myself, tired, out of breath. The usual things that you do. Before I joined Ditch The Diet, I was a Weight Watcher. I’ve been a Weight Watcher for about 20 years with a little side venture into Slimming World.

The problem with Slimming World was they say you can have unlimited carbs, so I had unlimited carbs. I was a little bit unsure about joining Ditch The Diet at first because I was like, “Well, I’ve tried this, I’ve tried that. Will it work? Is it just more money after more money?” And then I thought, “Well, do you know what? I’m paying £21.45 a month for Weight Watchers, if I cancel that, I can pay very similar to Rachael.” And I know from following her on Facebook that there are lots and lots of different things Rachael could teach regarding diet and nutrition and not just, “Eat this as a limit, don’t eat this as a limit.”

So, I was unsure, and then I thought, “Do you know what? I’ll give it a go. What’s the worst that can happen? I’m no worse off. Hopefully, I won’t get any fatter. Hopefully, I get thinner. Hopefully, I’ll feel more energetic, happier in myself.” So, I cancelled Weight Watchers, joined the Academy, and like I say, three weeks after doing the Transform21, I’ve lost weight. So, it’s working so far. How I feel now: emotionally, I feel quite confident actually. I feel quite comfortable with what I’m doing. I feel happier in myself and I don’t deny myself anything. If I want a bit of cake, I have a bit of cake. Life’s too short not to have cake or chocolate.

So, physically, I can tell it in my waist, around my waist, in my clothes. I can tell. People at work have noticed, just after a short space of time. So that’s good. What’s different about Ditch The Diet to anything I’ve done before? Everything. Absolutely everything. I like the fact that every day you get an email on Transform21. I like that every day there’s different content. There are loads of videos, there are loads of podcasts, there’s loads of interactive stuff with Rachael on the Facebook sites and in the members’ site if you don’t have Facebook. I like the fact that I’m learning different things every day, and it’s not just … When you join Weight Watchers and Slimming World, you get a book on day one and then you get to sit with somebody who explains the book to you and it’s like, “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” and then after that, you get nothing.

So you go to your meetings, yes, you get the support and you get ideas. But, I think with Ditch The Diet, there are things constantly, you’re constantly being given new things, new ideas. In the Academy, there’s the monthly members’ pack, which you’ve got monthly things to do and more recipes and things to try and little tips on exercise. So I think it’s a constant drip-feeding rather than, “There you go, there’s your book.” That’s what it is. Ditch The Diet is educational, whereas Weight Watchers and Slimming World really aren’t.

So, if you’re thinking of joining Ditch The Diet, do it, just do it. There’s no messing about. There’s no … Don’t even think about it. Don’t think twice. Do it. So far, for me, it’s brilliant. I’m just starting the Ditch The Diet Academy, which is 20 weeks, so I’ve had a quick look through all the stuff that’s coming up. So every week there’s a pack with loads of stuff in it. I’ve not obviously read them all because I don’t want to read them all. I want to save them and read them one at a time. But the advice is there, the support is there, the Facebook group’s there, and the Academy website itself is full of loads of, loads of information.

It’s the same price, as near a number, like Weight Watchers and Slimming World, but you just get so much more information and support. And the community’s great, everyone’s great, the recipes are great. Try it and if it doesn’t work, what have you lost? It’s like anything else. I don’t think you can be any worse than you were doing anything else. In fact, I think it’s probably quite a lot better. I wish I’d done it months ago. Take care, good luck everybody on your journeys.
