Warming Beef in Ale

With the cold weather coming in this is a perfect recipe for busy people. If your slow cooker is big enough you can make a family meal with leftovers, too! Best of all you can set it away before you leave and come home to a house that smells AMAZING

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Onion Diced
  • 2 Medium Carrots Chopped
  • 3 Sticks Celery Chopped
  • 250 g Button mushrooms Halved
  • 800 g Stewing beef or Diced topside
  • 500 ml Stout
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp Thyme
  • 1 Beef stock cube
  • 1 tbsp Plain flour

Instructions

  1. Chop vegetables to desired size and add to slow cooker

  2. Mix stock cube and flour in a little water, then add that and the stout to the cooker

  3. Add your herbs and mix well

  4. Cook on low for 8 hours. If you’re going out, up to 12 hours will be fine!

  5. Remove bay leaves, and serve with mashed potato, peas, and any other veg you like!
